Internet & English: a win-win situation

 

This year the Escola d'Estiu de l'Educació de Persones Adultes proposes an English itinerary related to computer resources that can be used to improve our teaching.

The organization of the itinerary goes as follows:


These activities, together with 3 hours to be filled with the school's intranet, will complete the 30-hour itinerary.

Objectives
This itinerary aims to offer ideas on how to use a more comprehensive approach to English teaching with the help of the internet.   The aim is to work on different resources that can be used to make our lessons more dynamic and guarantee our students' progress on a communicative level.

Motivation
In our country, partly due to the lack of time, there seems to be a wide-spread tendency to leave aside all those issues concerning oral communication –pronunciation, stress, intonation and fluency. We often spend a lot of time explaining grammar points and vocabulary. However, our efforts to get our students familiar with words and structures may well be sterile if we don't manage to get our students to see the English language as a communication tool and not as an academic subject.

Contents & Methodology
We'll use internet materials that can help us work on the four major skills of a language –speaking, listening, writing and reading- to complement more traditional activities and ways of teaching.
